One of the more intriguing Sarah Palin posts is this one, where Andrew Sullivan claims that all the folksy “you betchas” that come from her mouth are not her normal way of speaking. I’ve listened to the tape (of Palin in a 2006 Alaska debate) and I’m not sure: she’s was then at least a little bit folksy.
But the idea of her being coached into adding all these down home verbal tics is intriguing: Gidget from Fargo may be a complete invention! If that proves to be true, (and McCain wins) it will prove to be one of the most extraordinary maneuvers in the history of American elections.
