I’ve blogged about William “B.J.” Lawson, who’s running to represent North Carolina’s 4th Congressional District, a couple of times before. He’s an outstanding candidate, endorsed by Ron Paul and for sound money, slashing government expenditures, and a noninterventionist foreign policy. If the GOP had more candidates like Lawson, it wouldn’t be in the sorry shape [...]

As a consequentialist I regard voting in an election not as a symbolic act that would demonstrate my ideological purity but as one that could actually make a difference. At the same time, based on the concept of rational ignorance I also recognize that I’m contstrained by my average level of intelligence and my available [...]

John McCain, insistent as ever:
I can’t wait for this to be over.

The Cunning Realist, one of our go-to guys for smart, non-ideological economic analysis—check out his TAC stuff under the pseudonym “Wilson Burman”—is the latest conservative to endorse Obama. If we followed the lead of our friendly competition and began purging heretics, our stable would be a lonely place. (Supporting McCain is actually the deviant move [...]

My favorite response:
I was reading Kara Hopkins and had to stop. She said one thing that disturbed me highly, ‘a war we cannot win.’ [...]

We had an e-mail from a visitor to the TAC blog, which has made us think about what the purpose of the blog is and where we should be going with it. The e-mail is below followed by my comments on it.

A tip of the cap to TNR for bringing this candidate to our attention. Zane Starkwolf is the young Republican candidate for the California 1st District. He has gotten attention for a robo-call, usually a bad sign. Judge for yourself:
Yes for Zane
His statement on the controversial robo-call is beautifully vague and can be found on [...]

Israeli political analyst Joseph Alpher speculates in the Washington Post today about the possible impact of the outcome of the American presidential election on the Israeli election early next year:
“The Israeli public wants a prime minister who gets along with the U.S. president,” he said. “If Obama wins, and goes ahead with his plan to [...]
