Yes.  I&#039;ve always thought this is used by a pundit to show they&#039;re not engaged in writing for a particular establishment.  Must be done for credibility and shows that you&#039;ve tapped into the thinking of inevtiably interesting people.

It&#039;s sort of like how western journalists go out of their way to find an activist for westernish values in whatever foreign country they&#039;re in and pump them up with such hope talk as &quot;a brave, growing movement&quot; regardless of how popular their cause may really be.</description>
