I kid, I kid. Actually, I wish I was more conversant with the various shadings on the "dissident right" though I guess it wouldn't kill me to do some more research. and I think some of them would eschew the label paleo for various reasons

There are a number of people on the dissident right (and I think some of them would eschew the label paleo for various reasons) who are backing Obama in spite of himself, so to speak, and far more than I would have thought possible a year ago. There is a certain logic to their position, and I was becoming more sympathetic to it in recent weeks, but it seems to me as if backing Obama is for paleos the electoral version of undertaking a major project without having thought through the consequences. It is a perfect example of hoping for the best, when it is precisely an optimistic mindset that keeps getting all of us into trouble. That’s true. There are a number of people on the dissident right (and I think some of them would eschew the label paleo for various reasons) who are backing Obama in spite of himself, so to speak, and far more than I would have thought possible a year ago.
