In the atmosphere we're seeing at the state level, I can't even imagine how badly every single other major Republican candidate would be getting beaten by Obama right now. While I think McCain is ultimately a really terrible candidate who will get crushed in the general, the GOP primary voters look brilliant right now for having picked him. This is also probably evidence that McCain was really a coup for the Republicans.
