But of course it is equally tiresome for liberals to hear  that social needs should not be met by government because it is not the &quot;proper&quot; function of government and or those needs are already being met by charities. 

For example, as someone who has a chronic illness that costs over 5,000 dollars a month to treat, I have yet to hear a proposal from a libertarian that would allow me to obtain the medicine I need and not financially cripple me.

And the idea that charities could have ameliorated my health insurance bills if not for overbearing government strikes me as profoundly implausible.</description>
