I think McCain will be forced to bite his tongue and select Romney. Romney still has some fund-raisers in his corner, and he can bring some economic knowledge to McCain. I’m not saying his brand of economics is right, but Bain Capital and Staples are substantial companies.

Plus, if the Republicans like to bash Obama over lacking foreign policy experience, how will Jindal avoid that charge?

In Hillyer’s piece, I think the best one for McCain on that list is Ashcroft. I don’t see Jindal as a good pick. Yes, for all the reasons you mention regarding benefits for the Republicans, but ultimately because it does no favors for Jindal. He doesn’t need this.

That’s a nice turn of phrase. But as the exorcism business makes perfectly clear, Jindal isn’t “quirky” or “weird” – he’s actually pretty nutty.
