		<description>I used to date this guy who was a total jerk.  He&#039;d say these incredibly mean things to me (like &quot;your life has no meaning&quot; or &quot;our friends all hate you&quot;), but if I took offense, he&#039;d claim he was teasing and that I needed to lighten up.

I can see this cycle of &quot;satire&quot; heading that direction.  The original cartoon wasn&#039;t very good satire, but it was intended as a joke.  Now we&#039;ve just entered a world where people will make personal attack on the candidates age, or race, or alleged patriotism, and if anyone takes umbrage (which they will, these are two very hyper-sensitive campaigns), the supposed satirists will claim humor.  

Terrific.  It&#039;s a joy to see my own dysfunctional relationship mirrored in national politics.</description>
