Obama was a silly choice for a Nobel Peace Prize. However, it is worth mentioning that at least four of the five members of the Nobel Comittee in all likelihood support the war in Afghanistan. They are all former politicians, so their views are on the record.

Hi Daniel,
I'm a long-time reader, and it was great to see you in person in Princeton today (I was one of the people who said hi at the end). After I left, it occurred to me that you might be in New Jersey for a couple of days - if you are, and you have the time, I'd love to treat you to a meal or a drink. Let me know if you're interested.
Cheers,
John

PS I also sent an email to address that I found on the internet but figured it might be obsolete - sorry if this is overkill.

Quit making so much sense. How would our political and pundit classes ever pay the bills if they were concerned with such antiquated notions as "sense" or "logic"?

Probably the truest thing I can think of about the Nobel prize is that we will have all forgotten it in a week. It makes great fodder for half-baked columns, but in terms of actual effects it may have in the long or even medium term, it's already outlived its significance.
